An iCloud Mail alternative that isn't locked to your Apple ID
iCloud Mail is convenient until the identity is the Apple ID. QeyeT is a free @qeyet.com inbox with device-held keys. The app is Android.
QeyeT vs Typical iCloud Mail
Apple ID is the identity. QeyeT recovery words are the identity.
| Topic | QeyeT Mail | Typical iCloud Mail |
|---|---|---|
| Cost to start | Free personal preview | Free with Apple ID |
| Where history lives | Encrypted vault on devices you authorize | Apple-held iCloud mailbox |
| Works off Apple | Android app | Best inside Apple ID |
| Email anyone | Yes — Gmail, Outlook, iCloud | Yes |
| Phone number | Not required | Apple ID recovery usually needs one |
| Leave cleanly | Export + recovery words | Apple ID remains the identity |
When iCloud Mail is the wrong identity
The inbox is not your Apple ID. The app is Android.
- You want private mail that still works if you leave Apple hardware
- You don't want your inbox identity glued to Apple ID
- You want the Android app, not an inbox glued to Apple ID
- You want keys on devices you authorize, not iCloud by default
